* Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies Seize Marijuana and Cash in Aptos
Published by Junior Staff Writer on March 2, 2011
Sheriff’s detectives seized about $80,000 worth of marijuana and arrested an Aptos man Saturday morning, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said today. Detectives served a search warrant at an Aptos home and found 23 pounds of marijuana buds, 1,400 marijuana plants growing in the house, nine guns and more than $40,000 in cash, the sheriff’s office said. Brandon King, 33, was arrested on suspicion of possession for sales and cultivation of marijuana at the home in the 3800 block of Redwood Drive at 10 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office. King had a medical marijuana membership card for the Santa Cruz Patient Collective dispensary, according to the sheriff’s office, but detectives believed that his operation was for financial gain. The sheriff’s office said it had received numerous complaints from neighbors about suspected drug activity. King was booked into jail and released on bail.
