* Alejandro “Alex” Ferndandez Murdered in Mt. View
Published by Junior Staff Writer on February 28, 2011
Mountain View police are reexamining a stalled 2004 murder investigation and are looking for help from the community, the department reported. On Sept. 24, 2004 at about 10:30 p.m., 17-year-old Mountain View resident Alejandro “Alex” Ferndandez was fatally shot in the torso while riding his bike with a group of friends in the 500 block of South Rengstorff Avenue, police said. Multiple suspects fled the scene in a red, two-door car and were never apprehended, police said. The shooting is believed to be gang-related. The investigation initially stalled due to a lack of leads, but the case was never officially closed. Detectives developed new information after recently re-interviewing witnesses. No suspect has been identified, but police believe the public could be able to help. Police also hope any additional witnesses will come forward.
