A 41-year-old Oakland man was charged today with forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and performing a lewd act on a child for allegedly abducting a 13-year-old girl as she was walking to school and then sexually assaulting her.Ty Cooper was scheduled to be arraigned on the three felony charges in Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland late today, but a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office was unable to confirm the arraignment took place.
The 13-year-old girl told police she was abducted in the area of 98th Avenue and Walnut Street in East Oakland on Thursday morning while she was walking to school and was then sexually assaulted, Oakland police spokeswoman Holly Joshi said.Officers responded to the area and arrested Cooper, Joshi said.The girl was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland for treatment, according to Joshi.
