* Wayne Archie Woodruff Wanted for Alleged Oregon Bank Robbery Tased and Arrested
Published by Junior Staff Writer on February 18, 2011
A transient man wanted in connection with an Oregon armed robbery was rounded up Wednesday by Monterey County sheriff’s deputies, who used a stun gun to subdue the man before he was taken into custody. Deputies stopped a “suspicious” Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Wayne Archie Woodruff near the southern edge of Salinas at 1257 De La Torre St., according to a news release issued Thursday. After spotting the deputies, Woodruff allegedly drove a short distance before stopping the truck, which contained several open containers of alcohol in plain view, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies ran a background check on Woodruff, who was allegedly driving without a license, and learned that the 38-year-old man had a felony warrant out for his arrest for an armed robbery in Portland, Ore. According to the sheriff’s office, Woodruff was considered armed and dangerous, and he resisted arrest, leading deputies to subdue him by prodding him with a Taser. Once Woodruff was taken into custody, he was booked at Monterey County Jail.
