The body of a Vallejo man who went missing Feb. 5 was found Wednesday afternoon in the Mare Island Strait near the Vallejo Marina, Solano County sheriff’s Lt. Gary Faulkner said this morning.An autopsy on 45-year-old Robert Mast is scheduled for later today, Faulkner said.The U.S. Coast Guard discovered the body on Wednesday and the Solano County coroner’s office was summoned at 2:16 p.m. that day, Faulkner said.

Vallejo police said Mast left his Santa Clara Street home on Feb. 5 to take his black-and-white female pit bull for a walk. The dog was seen in the River Park area and returned home that evening dragging its leash, Lt. Ken Weaver said.Mast’s friends and family members said it was highly unusual for him not to stay in touch and that he was very attached to the dog and took her everywhere, police said.
