A man was arrested in Santa Cruz on Thursday evening when officers doing a probation search found drugs, weapons and other paraphernalia, police said. Tilden Ball, a 26-year-old transient, was spotted in the 300 block of Soquel Avenue by officers who knew he was on probation for weapon and drug charges, according to police. Ball was carrying a backpack, and inside it officers found pocket knives, a dagger, and a flare gun with a shotgun shell that fit inside the gun, police said. Ball was also in possession of burglary tools, a ski mask, rubber gloves, drug paraphernalia, baggies, a scale, and about four grams of methamphetamine packages for sales, according to police. Ball attempted to fight and escape from the officers, but was taken into custody without injury. He was arrested on suspicion of drug and weapon offenses, and a probation hold was placed on him, police said.
