* Concord Alleged Robbery Suspect Captured with Police Dog

Published by on February 5, 2011

A 16-year-old Clayton boy has been arrested after a chase in Concord on Thursday in connection with a January robbery and beating of another teenager, a Concord police sergeant reports. At about 11 a.m. Friday, police learned the suspect was at Summit High School, a continuation school on the Concord High School Campus, which is located at 4200 Concord Blvd. Officers went to the school, but when the suspect saw them he took off running across Concord Boulevard and fled into the neighborhood. Police searched for him and brought in a police dog, which found him hiding in a shed in somebody’s backyard, Sgt. Matthew Morrissey said.  The dog bit the boy on the arm, and police arrested him. He was treated at a local hospital for minor puncture wounds from the bite and then booked into Juvenile Hall, Morrissey said. The robbery, which appeared to have involved a beating, was reported Jan. 12 in the Clayton Valley neighborhood near Highlands Elementary School, Morrissey said. The victim suffered a concussion and was treated and released from a hospital, officials said.
