Published by Junior Staff Writer on February 2, 2011
A victim was shot in his arm in an unincorporated part of Monterey County Tuesday evening, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. Richard Castro was parked in a car with his girlfriend in the 600 block of Trafton Road in unincorporated Pajaro at about 11:30 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office. About six unidentified men pulled up in a light-colored Ford sedan. They got out of the car, ran up to Castro’s car, and starting banging on the window and yelling, “What do you claim?” As Castro drove away, about three shots were fired by the suspects and one bullet grazed Castro’s arm. He was treated at a hospital and released, according to the sheriff’s office. No arrests have been reported, but the sheriff’s office is investigating the shooting as attempted murder.
