* Milpitas Seek Attempted Kidnapping Suspect

Milpitas police are asking the public to help identify a man suspected of attempting to kidnap students near two schools this week. The first incident occurred on Monday at about 3:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Everglades Drive at Crater Lake Avenue, police said. A Rancho Middle School student was walking home when a man pulled up in a red four-door Chevrolet Blazer and tried to speak with the student, according to police. He asked the student to get into his car, and when the student refused and walked away, he drove away from the area, police said. A similar incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. involving a Milpitas High School student in the 400 block of North Park Victoria Drive at Kennedy Drive, police said. This time, the suspect got out of his car and started a conversation with the student. As they were talking, he tried to grab the student, but the student managed to escape and run away, police said. The suspect then lifted his shirt, flashed his genitals at the student, and then drove away from the area. The Rancho Middle School student reported seeing a man with a similar description again on Tuesday around 4:25 p.m. driving in the area of Olympic Drive and Lassen Avenue, passing at least three times, police said. The suspect was described as an Asian man between 30 and 35 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall to 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 to 250 pounds. He has straight black hair and is clean-shaven. The suspect was last seen wearing a light-colored long-sleeved button-up shirt and a blue baseball cap. The suspect’s vehicle paint is peeling, and the color of the engine hood is lighter than the rest of the car. He speaks with an Asian accent, police said. Police are reminding parents to speak to their children about what actions they should take if they are confronted by a stranger. Children should be advised to report such incidents to a parent, guardian, school official or law enforcement officer.
