Omar Cortez, 18, and Gonzalo Avalos, 19, both South San Francisco residents, were pronounced dead on the scene. The now-deceased victim — whose name has not been released by the San Mateo County coroner’s office as of 5 p.m. — was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. He was in critical condition until late this afternoon, when he succumbed to his wounds, police said. Three other male victims, all between the ages of 15 and 20, were found across the street suffering from wounds not considered to be life threatening, Lee said.

The three victims were also taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment. Witnesses told police they saw three male suspects in their late teens or early 20s driving away from the shooting in a dark-colored early 2000s-model Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows. The San Mateo County gang intelligence unit is actively engaged in assisting local police with the investigation.
