* Pleasanton’s Daniel Shoemake and Michel David died in apparent murder-suicide

A man and woman from Pleasanton died in an apparent murder-suicide in San Diego on Friday morning, San Diego police said. Michel David, 22, was found dead from gunshot wounds shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, and officers found her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Shoemake, 21, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound nearby, police said. Both David and Shoemake attended Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton. Officers had responded to a report of gunshots fired in the area of 55th Street and El Cajon Boulevard, located south of the San Diego State University campus. David was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and an assault rifle was recovered near her body, according to police. She was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. As officers cordoned off the area, Shoemake was spotted in the driver’s seat of a parked truck, and had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A handgun was found on the floorboard of the truck, police said. A note was also found in Shoemake’s home in San Diego, but police are not revealing its contents. Investigators learned the two were formerly involved in a dating
relationship. David worked at the Cheesecake Factory, a restaurant in nearby Chula Vista, while Shoemake’s Facebook profile says he was a member of the U.S. Army. Both David and Shoemake’s Facebook profiles say they attended SDSU, but Greg Block, a school spokesman, said he did not know whether they were current or former students.
