A San Carlos man was victimized in his driveway Thursday night when three teenage suspects attempted to rob him, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The victim had just turned his car into his driveway in the 1400 block of Cedar Street at about 7:30 p.m. when two young males wearing hooded sweatshirts and all dark clothing approached him from behind, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspects, who are estimated to be between 16 and 20 years old, demanded the victim’s wallet and at least one of them was carrying a handgun, according to the sheriff’s office, but the victim became confrontational and scared off his would-be robbers. The attackers fled in a gray older model car – possibly a Mercury – that was parked across the street and driven by a third suspect, also estimated to be between 16 and 20 years old. Despite the prompt reporting of the crime, sheriff’s deputies who conducted a search of the area failed to find the three suspects. The sheriff’s office is coordinating their investigation with police in Redwood City, where a similar incident occurred about an hour earlier Thursday night. The suspect descriptions and the vehicle in the Redwood City robbery are similar to the ones provided by the San Carlos victim, according to the sheriff’s office.
