The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Vallejo man Sunday on suspicion of committing car burglaries during the past month. Larry Allen Stancliff, 51, was arrested after sheriff’s detectives saw him break into a car at the Carrows restaurant on Cleveland Avenue in Santa Rosa, steal two bags of luggage and drive away, sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Raasch said. Sheriff’s detectives, who had Stancliff under surveillance, found the luggage, a stolen camera, several stolen cell phones and other items taken during other car burglaries in the county in Stancliff’s car, Raasch said. Stancliff also is believed to be the suspect who broke into a Windsor woman’s car and stole her purse at the Lakewood Mini-Storage on Adele Drive in Windsor at noon on Oct. 30, Raasch said. The purse contained identification, credit cards and two cameras, Raasch said. The suspect used the woman’s credit cards and a debit card at several locations in Healdsburg, Raasch said. Windsor police Detective Donald Fletcher got a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle, a 1980s model white GMC Jimmy, from surveillance video at the storage facility, Raasch said. Fletcher also obtained surveillance video of the suspect using the woman’s credit and debit cards at the Healdsburg locations, Raasch said. Healdsburg police spotted the GMC Jimmy near the Park Point Health Club on Sunday, kept it under surveillance and notified the sheriff’s office, Raasch said. Sheriff’s detectives then followed the GMC Jimmy around Healdsburg and Windsor where Stancliff prowled around cars in shopping centers and residential neighborhoods before he drove to Carrows restaurant in Santa Rosa, Raasch said. Stancliff was booked into the Sonoma County jail on two counts of burglary, two counts of possession of stolen property, possession of drugs, possession of burglary tools, credit card fraud and resisting arrest, Raasch said. Stancliff has an extensive criminal history dating back to the 1970s, Raasch said.
