A Petaluma resident called police after hearing their vehicle being driven away Saturday night, the Petaluma Police Department reported. Officers in the area responded to the call at 11:50 p.m. in the 300 block of Ridgeview Drive. Police caught up to the vehicle heading south on Petaluma Boulevard at Mountain View Avenue. Police pulled the vehicle over and found Jorge Valdez Lopez inside, police said. Valdez-Lopez, who was also in possession of burglary tools, was arrested and taken into custody. At police headquarters, Valdez-Lopez, a 43-year-old Richmond resident, admitted to stealing the vehicle, police said. The suspect also told police that he intended to drive the vehicle to Richmond and sell it. Valdez-Lopez was later booked into Sonoma County Jail.Bail was set at $10,000.
