A 42-year-old woman led police on a low-speed chase across Sonoma County Saturday afternoon after allegedly stealing cosmetics from a grocery store, Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety reported. At 12:19 p.m., officers responded to a reported theft at the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market on Commerce Boulevard near Rohnert Park Expressway. The suspect, later identified as Santa Rosa woman Jackquline Dedrick, allegedly stole about $165 worth of cosmetics and personal items, Officer Pat Fahy said.Responding officers saw Dedrick driving away in her car and an officer attempted to stop Dedrick, but she apparently kept driving. She led police on a chase at speeds ranging from 5 mph to 55 mph, Fahy said.Police tried putting a spike strip on the roadway to force Dedrick to stop, but she avoided it by swerving onto the sidewalk. Fahy said the suspect likely had a police scanner in the car to help monitor police activity.”From the moves she was making, we believe she was listening to the scanner,” he said.Police continued the chase to Santa Rosa via Petaluma Hill Road and Santa Rosa Avenue. While attempting to make a U-turn on Santa Rosa Avenue near Julliard Park, the suspect’s vehicle was boxed in by pursuing patrol cars.Surrounded and halted, Dedrick allegedly refused to unlock her car doors. An officer eventually broke the front passenger window to get her out. After the 23-minute chase, Dedrick was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for burglary, evading arrest and three theft-related felony warrants.
