A driver in a solo-vehicle crash in Antioch allegedly hit a tree and fled the scene on foot, leaving a seriously injured passenger in the mangled vehicle early Sunday morning, Antioch police said. The 1999 silver Lexus SUV hit a tree at 2400 Mahogany Way around 2:20 a.m., police said.The passenger side of the vehicle was “wrapped around the tree,” police said.Witnesses said the SUV was speeding and that the driver fled the scene, leaving the passenger, a 19-year-old Antioch man, trapped in the vehicle.The passenger was extricated from the wreck and flown to UC Davis Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and died later Sunday.The accident is still under investigation.Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to contact Antioch police Detective James Stenger at (925) 779-6894.
