A Novato teen on Tuesday admitted to a number of charges stemming from a crash that killed a 15-year-old Novato High School student in September. The 16-year-old boy, also a Novato High School student, admitted to charges in Marin County juvenile court including vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing great bodily injury, DUI with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or more and driving without a license, Marin County Deputy District Attorney Ron Ravani said today. The teen’s name has been withheld because of his age. When he is sentenced by Judge Lynn Duryee on Dec. 2, the teen could be placed in a rehabilitation program or incarcerated at juvenile hall or other custodial facility until he is 21, Ravani said. The teen was driving a 1990 BMW containing four other Novato High School students west on Novato Boulevard when it spun out and struck an eastbound tractor-trailer hauling cattle west of San Marin Drive at about 11:50 a.m. on Sept. 17.The crash killed 15-year-old Isaac Brott of Novato. The four other occupants were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Marin General Hospital. The driver pleaded guilty to all of the charges against him. Ravani said the prosecution did not offer a plea agreement in the case.
