A Vacaville husband and wife were arrested late this morning after allegedly abusing their nine-month-old child, putting it critical condition, police said. Michael Hernandez, 32, and his wife Colleen Hernandez, 28, were arrested after police responded to an 11:48 a.m. call from a Kaiser emergency room that a nine-month-old child was being treated for serious head injuries, police said.   Responding officers interviewed the couple and found that they have a history of reported child abuse and prior arrests involving their two older children. The Hernandez couple was arrested transported to Solano County Jail, where they are being held without bail. Solano County Child Welfare Services responded to the residence on the 400 block of West Monte Vista Avenue and took custody of the couple’s three-year-old, who was found at home with Michael Hernandez when the initial report was made. The couple’s 9-month-old child was in critical condition as of this afternoon. It was transported by helicopter to the University of
California at Davis Medical Center. Its current condition was unknown as of 11 p.m.

  • Is there a way caring people (like myself) can follow this story for more details. I have been praying for this baby all weekend, and am wondering about her condition… and will wonder about her future well-being.

I’m sure many people would like to understand how/why parents who have been previously arrested for child abuse could have had their children back in their custody.

    Thank you sincerely,
    Lisa Castillo
