Published by Junior Staff Writer on November 14, 2010
The people of the Mexican city of Ciudad Mier became refugees when they were forced to abandon their city under threat of death. Drug cartels ordered the people of the town to leave their homes and city, saying they would kill anyone that stayed. Three hundred people fled to a shelter in the city of Miguel Aleman for sanctuary and the mayor set up a refugee center. The mayor is asking for food and supplies from communities in Texas. Miguel Aleman is across the border from Roma, Texas. Please give us your thoughts and comments in the comment section below.
