* Oakland shooting Fremont man killed on 81st Avenue

A 39-year-old Fremont man was killed in a shooting in East Oakland on Monday evening, an Oakland police spokesman said today. The shooting was reported at 6:36 p.m. in the 1300 block of 81st Avenue, Officer Jeff Thomason said. Officers arrived to find the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Highland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:11 p.m. Witnesses told investigators the shooter had opened fire from inside a car, Thomason said.
