A 24-year-old transgender Oakland resident was arraigned but did not enter a plea today on charges that she fatally stabbed her boyfriend during a domestic dispute at his home in Walnut Creek on Thursday. Akira Jackson, who changed her name from David Gavin, was charged Monday with murder with an enhancement for the use of a knife in connection with the killing of 56-year-old resident Alan Gray, prosecutors said. Walnut Creek police said they were called at about 9:20 a.m. to Gray’s home on Santa Rita Drive to respond to a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, they found Gray in front of his house suffering from a stab wound. Jackson was still inside. Gray was transported to John Muir Medical Center, where he died, police said. Officers ordered Jackson to come out of the house and she complied. She was arrested without incident and was cooperating with investigators, police said. She is scheduled to return to court Nov. 30 to be assigned an attorney and enter a plea.
