* Gilroy police are investigating a possibly gang-related assault on East 8th Street

Gilroy police are investigating a possibly gang-related assault Friday night that seriously injured a 31-year-old man.Officers responded around 8:50 p.m. to reports of a fight involving seven to 10 people in the 400 block of East 8th Street.By the time officers arrived, the group had dispersed, but they located the victim sitting in a nearby driveway.He told the officers a group of about 10 people had assaulted him with several different weapons, according to police.The victim was airlifted to a trauma center with blunt force trauma injuries, including a stab wound, a serious head injury and complaint of pain in his upper torso.He was considered to be in serious, but stable condition, police said.
