San Anselmo police engaged in a high-speed chase on surface streets Saturday night and later arrested a man for DUI, police Sgt. Rob Schneider said. Police responded to a report of an intoxicated driver heading east on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard around 8 p.m., Schneider said. Officers spotted Scott Dammann, 41, of Mill Valley, and attempted to pull him over near Fourth Street and Ross Valley Drive. Dammann allegedly made evasive maneuvers, failed to stop and continued into San Rafael. He reached speeds up to 59 mph through light traffic, Schneider said. Police caught up to Dammann in San Rafael. He was taken into custody and booked at Marin County Jail for driving under the influence, driving with a blood content of 0.08 percent or more, attempting to evade an
officer, and reckless driving.
