Police in San Leandro are investigating a suspicious device found in a car that has caused the closure of three BART stations since 8:30 a.m., BART spokesman Linton Johnson said today.A vehicle was pulled over by police for a traffic violation near San Leandro and Marina boulevards, San Leandro police Lt. Jeff Tudor said.During a search of the vehicle, officers found a “bomb-type device” in the trunk of the car, Tudor said. The area was evacuated and a bomb squad has arrived at the scene, Tudor said. The car containing the suspicious device was about 20 yards from the BART tracks, Johnson said. As a precaution, the Coliseum, San Leandro and Bay Fair stations are all closed, Johnson said. Station closures have led to delays on the Fremont and Dublin Pleasanton lines.BART officials have set up a bus bridge to bypass the closed stations. Closures are expected to cause delays of up to 25 minutes, Johnson said. The incident is ongoing and remains under investigation.
