Police are seeking a man who allegedly tried to get a teenage girl to get into his car in Salinas on Thursday evening.The 15-year-old girl, a student at Salinas High School, was walking home from school at about 5:10 p.m., and ask she reached the intersection of Geil and Capitol streets, she noticed a dark red SUV that passed by her two or three times, police said.The car began following the girl at a slow pace and the driver, the lone occupant of the car, asked her to get in the car. At one point, he also pulled into a driveway ahead of her, got out of the car and called at her to get in the vehicle, according to police.The girl, who didn’t know or recognize the man, ran toward a group of people down the block, and didn’t see where the man or vehicle fled, police said.The man is described as a Hispanic man between 25 and 30 years old who was about 5 feet 10 inches tall, between 180-200 pounds, and was unshaven with short, straight black hair. He was wearing a dark, collared shirt, according to police.He was driving a mid 90s Chevrolet or GMC Suburban in stock condition with what appeared to be a new paint job of dark red paint, and tinted windows, police said.
