A Napa State Hospital employee was found murdered on hospital grounds Friday night, according the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.Concord resident Donna Gross, 54, was found dead at about 7 p.m. Friday in an enclosed courtyard area of the hospital at 2100 Napa Vallejo Highway.Gross had been a psychiatric technician with the hospital for 14 years.The sheriff’s office did not disclose the nature of her death.”We’re waiting for the cause after the autopsy,” said Capt. Tracey Stuart, a spokeswoman for the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. The autopsy will be conducted sometime this week. Detectives on the scene acquired information linking the crime to patient Jess Willard Massey, the sheriff’s office reported. Massey, 37, has “an extensive criminal history” and was committed in 1993 after being declared insane, the sheriff’s office reported.Massey was arrested and remains in custody at the Napa County Department of Corrections for murder and robbery. “We believe he took money and possibly jewelry from the victim,” Stuart said.The Major Crimes Task Force also aided in the investigation.
