A man was killed and another injured in a stabbing in Newark over the weekend, a police commander said today. Abdul Mubeen Babacarhail, 22, died after the stabbing, which was reported at about 2:05 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Olive Street and Thornton Avenue, Newark police Cmdr. Bob Douglas said. Officers arrived to find Babacarhail, a Newark resident, and a 25-year-old Hayward man suffering from stab wounds. They were both taken to a hospital where Babacarhail succumbed to his injuries. The other victim is expected to survive, Douglas said. No arrests have been made in connection with the case and no suspect information was available today, Douglas said. He said investigators are contacting businesses near the intersection to see if there were any witnesses or if any video surveillance cameras caught what happened.
