A man was arrested early Friday morning for allegedly shooting his mother’s ex-boyfriend in Salinas on Thursday, police said. The shooting was reported shortly after 6:50 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Holly Street. Officers arrived to find the 33-year-old victim in the yard and suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was taken to a Bay Area hospital where he was in serious condition as of Friday evening, police said. Investigators determined Christopher Moore, 24, had shot the victim, and was possibly at a home in the 18000 block of Kennedy Street. At about 4:30 a.m. Friday, the Police Department’s SWAT team surrounded the home and Moore was arrested without incident. The victim does not live on Holly Street, but had been doing some maintenance work with another person at a home there. The other person left, and came back minutes later to find that the victim had been shot, police said. The investigation revealed that the victim and Moore’s mother had previously been in a relationship, and that the victim was wanted for an act of felony domestic violence against Moore’s mother in an incident on Oct. 9. Police had been actively seeking the victim prior to the shooting. The exact motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Moore was booked into county jail on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.
