* Fred Carranza arrested in connection with an attempted murder in Walnut Creek

One man was arrested in connection with an attempted murder in Walnut Creek Tuesday night, police said.A woman called police at 11:10 p.m. to report that her boyfriend had allegedly assaulted her with a knife, tied her up, and threatened to kill her.The victim told police her boyfriend, 41-year-old Walnut Creek resident Fred Carranza, had left her home in the 1700 block of Botelho Drive in his truck.Officers traveling to the scene were able to locate Carranza near the victim’s home using her description of his vehicle, police said. Carranza was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence,domestic violence, false imprisonment, making threats, possession of a controlled substance, and a felony warrant.Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 943-5844.
