A Fairfield parolee was shot and killed Monday night during a prearranged fight in a parking lot near Armijo High School, police said Tuesday. Jamal Thornton, 29, had arranged to meet another adult in the parking lot of 824 Washington St. to settle a feud, police said. As he and the other person began fighting at about 9 p.m., one of their associates opened fire on Thornton with a handgun. Thornton died from gunshot wounds a short time later, police said. Everyone else ran from the scene. Thornton and some of the other people at the fight were on parole, police said. Investigators are working with the parole staff to identify possible leads in the case. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Fairfield police at (707) 428-7300 or the Solano County Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-STOP.
