A Salinas police employee was arrested Wednesday evening on suspicion of molesting a child.Scott Callan, a community service officer who was most recently assigned to the parking control unit, was arrested after police received third-hand information that he had engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.The minor had been involved in the Police Department’s Explorer program, which lets youth between ages 14 and 21 learn about law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Callan was an advisor to the Explorer program for several years, police said.Callan was booked into Monterey County jail on suspicion of intercourse with a victim under 15 years old, sodomy, and oral copulation, according to police. His bail was set at $75,000, and he has been placed on administrative leave with the department.
