A man was accidentally shot in the hand Friday night while apparently looking at a gun with another person, according to East Palo Alto police. The victim called police shortly after 7 p.m. saying he had been shot, according to police. Officers responded to the 1800 block of West Bayshore Road but were unable to locate a shooting victim and no one was in the area to provide information. Officers followed a blood trail to an apartment. At the same time the police department was notified that a shooting victim was at the hospital with a gunshot wound in his hand, according to police. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was visiting someone inside the apartment, according to police. While the victim or his acquaintance was handling a gun the weapon fired and struck the victim in the hand.
