A 51-year-old Redwood City man was arrested Thursday for allegedly ripping a $12,000 diamond pendant off of a woman’s neck at a Caltrain station last month, police said. The suspect, Jeffery Thompson, allegedly admitted to the crime, police said. On Sept. 25 at about 4:15 p.m., Thompson and the victim got off a bus at the Sequoia Caltrain Station, police said. Thompson allegedly approached the suspect and grabbed a diamond pendant she was wearing around her neck, according to police. The necklace is reportedly a Canary diamond worth $12,000.Video surveillance cameras caught the robbery suspect on tape, and police distributed his photograph to local law enforcement agencies.The department was told the suspect could have been Thompson, police said.The victim was shown a photo line-up and positively identified Thompson as the man who robbed her, police said.He was arrested today in the 500 block of Woodside Road without incident. Thompson allegedly confessed to the robbery, but the location of the necklace has not been determined, police said.
