* James Huerta Arrested After Alleged High Speed Pursuit in Castroville

A 33-year-old man with three warrants for his arrest was taken into custody in unincorporated Castroville Friday afternoon after Monterey County sheriff’s deputies spotted his vehicle and apprehended him after a brief foot pursuit. James Huerta, a plumber who lives in Castroville, was spotted driving a vehicle on Axtell Street at about 4:10 p.m. Friday, according to the sheriff’s office. Huerta ran from the deputies and tried to hide in a brushy area nearby. He was spotted lying in the brush and was arrested. Deputies found a methamphetamine pipe in his possession, according to the sheriff’s office. He was booked into Monterey County jail for the three no-bail warrants.
