* Man shot on Center Avenue in Martinez

A 40-year-old Martinez man remained unconscious with life-threatening injuries today after he was shot at his home Sunday morning, Martinez police Sgt. Jon Sylvia said.A woman walking her dog found the victim lying in front of his house in the 1800 block of Center Avenue shortly after 11:35 a.m. Sunday and called for help.The call initially went to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District as a medical aid call, Sylvia said.When firefighters arrived, they determined that the man had been shot and called police, Sylvia said.When officers arrived, the victim had already been put in an ambulance and was being taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.Police searched the house and determined that the man had been shot in the master bedroom, Sylvia said.Police served a search warrant on the home, but so far it appears that the victim lived alone.Investigators were continuing to interview people today and follow up on leads in the case, but as of this morning no arrests had been made,Sylvia said
