Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people on pimping and pandering charges and seized more than 4,000 condoms as part of a prostitution bust in San Jose and Santa Clara this morning. The arrests followed an eight-month investigation into a prostitution ring involving three homes in San Jose and two apartments in Santa Clara, according to Sgt. Rick Sung.He said deputies arrested two people on warrants at a home in the 3000 block of Capewood Lane in San Jose. They were identified as 47-year-old Charlene Fu and 37-year-old Tso Sun.”Fu was the head honcho of the ring,” Sung said. The two will be booked into Santa Clara County’s main jail on pimping and pandering and conspiracy charges, Sung said. The home is located next to a school, he said. Deputies also seized $10,000 in cash and four boxes containing 1,080 condoms each from a home in the 4000 block of Williams Road in San Jose. There was also a Coffee-mate jar filled with condoms in the refrigerator, Sung said. Two women at a home in the 300 block of Clifton Avenue in San Jose were also cited and released for living at a brothel, Sung said. Officials have arrest warrants for four more people from San Jose and Santa Clara, Sung said. The operation today involved 32 deputies and officers from the sheriff’s office as well as the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team, a high-tech crimes unit. The investigation began about nine months ago when a deputy received an anonymous tip about a brothel being operated in the county’s Burbank District, Sung said. Investigators made some arrests at the home and learned along the way that the same group, comprised of five or six people, was running several brothels in the South Bay, Sung said.Investigators found also that brothel operators would frequently change locations and employed mainly Chinese women, Sung said. He said prostitutes make anywhere from $8,000 to $16,000 a month for their work. The Santa Clara Police Department assisted in the investigation.
