A senior at Hogan High School in Vallejo was hospitalized after being slashed with a knife by another student at the school Tuesday morning, a Vallejo City Unified School District spokeswoman said today.Shortly before classes started at 7:50 a.m., a male student, a senior, walked up to the victim and an altercation ensued, and the victim was slashed several times on the face and neck with a small knife, district spokeswoman Tish Busselle said.The 17-year-old victim was accompanied by his mother to a local hospital to be treated. He was released later Tuesday, Busselle said. At about 5:25 p.m., the suspect, also 17, was arrested while walking in the area of the high school, located at 850 Rosewood Ave., Vallejo police Lt. Abel Tenorio said. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery for allegedly taking $3 from the victim during the attack, Tenorio said.The victim was an acquaintance of the suspect and he “didn’t know why he attacked him in the first place,” Tenorio said.Busselle said along with the pending criminal investigation against the student, the school district will also “take disciplinary actions to the full extent provided under the law.”She said, “The campus was calm the rest of the day” with no further incidents among the roughly 815 students attending the school.
