An alleged drunken driver faces felony hit and run charges after skidding across an intersection and crashing into a police car today, Rohnert Park officials said. Joshua Hicks, 27, was seen skidding across an intersection at Seed Park Drive and Enterprise Drive at about 11:41 a.m., Rohnert Park Public Safety Sgt. Dave Welch said. Hicks, a resident of Rohnert Park, crashed a black and white Ford Expedition head-on into Welch’s car, according to a statement. The statement said Hicks then placed the vehicle in reverse and attempted to flee the scene. Welch forced the Expedition against the curb by driving his police car into the Expedition. Hicks was forcibly removed from the Expedition and taken into custody, the statement said. Hicks had a blood alcohol level of 0.16 percent at the time of the incident, officials said. He was arrested and booked at Sonoma County Jail and faces charges of felony DUI and felony hit and run. Welch’s back, shoulder, and right arm were injured during the incident. He was treated at the scene.
