A man was injured in an overnight shooting in Fairfield that police said could be related to a string of shootings over the past week. Officers responded to Dover Avenue near El Dorado Court after a 19-year-old man called police at about 1:20 a.m. today to say he had been shot in the leg. They found the victim, who said he had been walking on Dover Avenue when he was approached from behind and assaulted. As he ran away, he was shot in the leg, he told police. The wounded victim then ran two blocks to a home in the 100 block of El Verano Court where he called police. He was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. Police said the victim was uncooperative and refused to provide further information about the shooting. Investigators were unable to locate any witnesses. Detectives from the Police Department’s major crimes division
responded to the scene and are investigating whether the gunfire is related to any other recent shootings. Since Aug. 27, there have been three other shootings that injured three people. Police suspect two of those incidents may be related.
