A suspect was arrested Friday in connection to an armed robbery that happened in 2009 in a Monterey County home, police said today.The suspect, 18-year-old Gustavo Garcia Torres, allegedly held a woman and 12-year-old at gunpoint while two other suspects stole items from a home on 24220 Washington St. in the Chualar community, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.The robbery took place on May 27, 2009, police said.One of the victims spotted Torres on Friday while he was walking on a street in Salinas, police said. After police took Torres into custody, both victims identified the suspect as the alleged robber. Torres turned 18 in 2009 after the crime took place, so he stands to face juvenile charges, Monterey police Sgt. Randy Ragsac said.Torres is being held in the Monterey County jail and faces charges that include armed robbery, child endangerment, kidnapping, and false imprisonment, Ragsac said.During his initial interview, Torres admitted to being part of a gang in Salinas.The weapon from the robbery has not been recovered and police are still attempting to locate the other two suspects, Ragsac said.
