A Fremont police officer who was shot while attempting to arrest a man in Oakland on Friday is in critical but stable condition, Fremont police spokesman Detective Bill Veteran said. Surgery to repair Officer Todd Young’s bladder at Highland Hospital in Oakland on Sunday afternoon was successful, Veteran said. 20-year-old Andrew Barrientos at 2009 Auseon Ave., near Bancroft Avenue, in East Oakland at about 2:30 p.m. Friday. Barrientos was arrested in San Diego County near the Mexican border at about 2 p.m. Saturday. Alameda County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson said Barrientos might be brought back to Alameda County on Tuesday.
