* San Jose Police Officers shoot and kill knife wielding suspect on Wong Ct.
Published by Staff Writer on August 29, 2010
On Sunday, August 29, 2010, at approximately 9:16 AM, San Jose police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of an attempted suicide on the 5000 block of Wong Ct. The reporting person called the police saying her estranged husband shot himself with a nail gun several times and wanted to die. Arriving officers made numerous attempts to contact the 42-year old male from outside his home but were unsuccessful. A Crisis Intervention Trained (CIT) supervisor and officers spent time trying to communicate with the subject. During this time, emergency medical personnel were staged nearby to render medical aid. After repeated requests to open the door, with no response, officers forced entry to check on the welfare of the subject. Upon entry, officers observed that the subject had self-inflicted wounds and was armed with a knife that was approximately 10-inches in length. The subject confronted the officers who then discharged their firearms, striking the male. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Kevin Abruzzini or Detective Brian Spears of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit, at 408-277-5283.
