* Jennifer Madrid Petaluma mother arrested for alleged DUI crash with her 8-year-old child inside

A woman driving Saturday night with an alleged blood alcohol level twice the legal limit crashed and rolled her vehicle with her 8-year-old child inside, according to the Petaluma Police Department.Jennifer Madrid, 27, of Petaluma, was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi sedan on McGregor Avenue on the east side of the city shortly before 11 p.m. when she crashed into a parked vehicle, according to police. The force of the crash caused her car to roll.Madrid and her son were not injured. The child was properly restrained in the vehicle, according to police.Madrid was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence with about a .17 blood alcohol level, according to police. She was transported to Sonoma County jail, and her bail was set at $10,000.
Officers have requested the district attorney also charge Madrid with child endangerment.Police at the time of the crash were conducting two DUI/driver’s license checkpoints to screen drivers on Petaluma Boulevard North between Oak and Kent streets. Nearly 2,000 vehicles were checked by police for signs of drunken driving and valid driver’s licenses.A total of 86 drivers were directed to a nearby parking area for further evaluation. Of those, 55 drivers were found to have alcohol in their system and 31 were checked for driver’s license violations.None of the 55 drivers was arrested for DUI as they were all under the legal limit of .08, according to police. Officers arrested or cited 13 drivers for having outstanding DUI warrants, driving without a valid license and driving on a suspended license.Seven vehicles were towed. Six vehicles were impounded for 30 days, according to police.
