* Gregory Arnold 18-year-old Aromas resident killed in head on collision

A head-on collision left an Aromas teen dead and two others injured in Watsonville Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.The crash was reported at about 7:50 a.m. on San Juan Road near San Miguel Canyon Road, the CHP said.Gregory Arnold, an 18-year-old Aromas resident, was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry west on San Juan Road when for unknown reasons he went into the eastbound traffic lane and struck a 2008 Chevy Silverado, according to the CHP.The impact of the collision caused the Chevy to travel south until it came to a stop in an agriculture field.The Toyota stopped in the middle of the roadway, and Arnold was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.His passenger, a 16-year-old Santa Cruz boy, suffered major injuries in the crash and was transported via air ambulance to Regional Medical Center of San Jose.The driver of the Chevy, a 24-year-old Watsonville man, was transported to Natividad Medical Center with major injuries and subsequently flown to San Jose Regional Medical Center for treatment San Juan Road was closed for about 2 hours and 20 minutes following the crash.An autopsy was scheduled today for Arnold.A witness reported seeing the Toyota weaving just before it crossed into the eastbound traffic lane.The CHP is investigating the collision and has not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
