* Christopher Johnson Identified as Suspected Burglar Shot by Antioch Police

A suspected burglar who was killed during a shootout with Antioch police early this morning has been identified as 29 year old Antioch resident Christopher Johnson, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office. Police received a call at 1:14 a.m. reporting a residential burglary in progress at 2100 D St., police said. When officers arrived, they found Johnson inside the house and attempted to capture him using a police dog. Details on what happened next were not immediately available, but while the officers were trying to arrest Johnson, there was an exchange of gunfire between Johnson and the officers, and Johnson was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The police dog was also shot, but is expected to survive. No officers were hurt, police said.
