A man and woman were arrested after Monterey County sheriff’s deputies discovered stolen property, burglary tools and drugs during a traffic stop in unincorporated Prunedale Thursday night, according to the sheriff’s office. At about 8:50 p.m. Thursday, deputies stopped a 1989 Honda Civic hatchback on Prunedale North Road. The driver, 23-year-old Frank Deagustino, was arrested for outstanding warrants. During a search of the car, deputies found several bindles of a controlled substance and marijuana. They then discovered that the majority of tools found in the vehicle belonged to a burglary victim from the previous night. Burglary tools were also found in the car, according to the sheriff’s office. The passenger in the car, 21-year-old Jessica Rodriguez, was also in possession of a controlled substance on a digital scale, as well as stolen property from the previous night’s burglary, according to the sheriff’s office. Stolen mail from nine different people was also found in the car. Deagustino and Rodriguez were arrested and booked into Monterey County jail. Investigators are contacting the victims of the mail theft to see what other crimes might have occurred involving the two suspects, according to the sheriff’s office.
