A 41-year-old woman is dead and her boyfriend in custody after violence erupted at an apartment near Highway 1 early this morning, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department. Just before 4:10 a.m., police were called to an apartment the 300 block of Morrissey Boulevard to reports of a physical domestic violence incident, according to police. Prior to their arrival on scene, police received witness reports that the victim was bleeding from the attack. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the living room floor with a neck wound. The victim’s boyfriend, 39-year-old Wensy Sanchez, of Santa Cruz County, was seated nearby. Officers placed Sanchez in custody. Medical personnel attempted to revive the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
