After a series of early morning burglaries in residential areas of southern Santa Clara, police are reminding residents to secure doors and windows before going to bed. In the past nine days, the Santa Clara Police Department has investigated six nighttime residential burglaries where the residents were home at the time of the crimes. In each case, the unidentified burglar entered the victims’ homes through unlocked doors or windows. Once inside, the suspect pilfered easy-to-carry electronics such as laptop computers and gaming systems, police said. Police are uncertain if there are multiple suspects on the prowl, or if a single miscreant has been snatchingthe belongings from apartments and single-family homes. Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity to Santa Clara police immediately. Anyone with information related to the burglaries is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Steve Hoesing at (408) 615-4814.
