A 58-year-old woman and 81-year-old man were found dead in a San Rafael hotel Saturday afternoon in an apparent murder-suicide, police said today. Employees of the Four Points by Sheraton at 1010 Northgate Drive called 911 at about 1:30 p.m. after they went into the room of a couple who hadn’t checked out at their appointed time, according to police. The man and woman were both found suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities pronounced them dead at the scene. A firearm was located in the room, which had been locked from the inside. Hotel employees had used an emergency key to enter the room.
The names of the man and woman are being withheld pending notification of their family.
