A man who was arrested in Bay Point on Monday for allegedly crashing into three cars while driving drunk, then running from the scene with his 7-year-old daughter has been identified as San Pablo resident Luis Hurtado, California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Maguire said today.Hurtado, 39, has been arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving, felony hit-and-run, felony child endangerment and a probation violation. The charges also carry an enhancement for driving under the influence of alcohol with a child in his car. According to Maguire, Hurtado told officers that he had been celebrating his birthday by getting drunk and speeding down Port Chicago Highway when he crashed into a 2000 Acura Integra at Pacifica Avenue and Port Chicago Highway shortly before 2 p.m.As he was leaving the scene of that crash, he slammed into two more vehicles that were stopped at a traffic light at Port Chicago Highway and Riverside Drive.One of those vehicles was a 2007 GMC Yukon driven by a Bay Point resident who had her three children in the vehicle. The second car was a 2003 Toyota Camry with a male driver.Nobody was seriously injured, Maguire said.After the second crash, Hurtado fled on foot with his daughter. He was arrested nearby.Hurtado was reportedly wearing a “World’s Greatest Dad” T-shirt. His daughter was taken to a hospital as a precaution and the case was referred to Child Protective Services. Officers will likely take the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office later today for filing of formal charges.Hurtado is being held without bail at county jail in Martinez, according to a jail official.
